Gabby Douglas's 2024 Comeback to Competitive Gymnastics Halted

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas has officially withdrawn from the national gymnastics competition that was set to take place this weekend, effectively ending her comeback bid.

Trailblazing Career

Douglas, who became the first Black woman to win the highest individual Olympic gymnastics competition in 2012, has been out of competitive gymnastics since the Rio Games in 2016. Her return was highly anticipated, as she aimed to become the first female gymnast over 20 to win gold in the landmark all-around event since 1972.

The reason behind Douglas's withdrawal has not yet been disclosed. However, she remains determined to pursue her athletic goals, as evidenced by her recent Instagram post saying, "I will not stop chasing my dreams."
